アジア地域のプラントハンターとして有名な英国人アーネスト・ヘンリー・ウィルソンは、1914-1919年の間に日本を訪れ、サクラやツツジを西欧に紹介し、日本の植物学の発展にも貢献した。彼は植物を発見・採集するだけでなく、多数の写真を残した。劇的に変わった巨大近代都市、東京にも今なお変わらない景色や暮らし、木々の姿が残っている。
Ernest Henry Wilson, famous as a plant hunter in the Asian region, visited Japan between 1914 and 1919, introduced cherry and azaleas to Western Europe, and contributed to the development of Japanese botany. Not only did he discover and collect plants, but he also left many photographs. Even in Tokyo, a big modern city that has undergone a dramatic transformation, remain the old days scenery, lifestyle, and trees.
